iNTERViEWED BY BRiAN LUSH A big talent with a desire to mix rock and blues with a pop sensibility has just released her aptly titled EP ‘CONVICTION’. That probably doesn’t sound like the most attention grabbing bit of news in today’s pop music atmosphere but when you consider that said big talent is in fact sixteen years old, the news is quite exciting. KATE CAMERON certainly didn’t have to write a sturdy set of songs that express a maturity beyond her sixteen years. Vehicles such as AMERICAN IDOL could launch talent such as hers into the pop stratosphere in no time at all, but what is exciting or interesting about that? The fact that the young CAMERON is committed to the art of songwriting as opposed to the choreography and the silly indulgences of the world of pop is both noble and quite refreshing. In speaking with CAMERON, I was charmed by the songwriter’s nonchalance with regard to her immense talent but was also struck by the fact that CONVICTION is just the beginning for this young artist.(READ MORE)
